Heathfield School is proud to be associated with "The David Rundle Trust".

Every year Deri Rundle comes in and talks to the Year 9 students about the role of her charity. This is a fantastic lesson and the students gain an enormous amount. The title of the talk is "Small is Beautiful" and highlights the role of "small" charities but effective ones.
Follow the link to this amazing charity by clicking on the photo.
Students work on what this experience meant to them and how Deri sees our involvement can be found below:

What does it mean to be British and Ghanain in 2009?
Year 7 students in Heathfield, Year 6 students at West Monkton CE Primary school and students in Ghana were set the challenge of answering:
What does it mean to be British? and What does it mean to be Ghanain? in 2009.
These are some of Heathfield student responses - these are Year 7 students work:
And another:
Students in Year 6 at West Monkton Primary School approached this from a different angle. The students wrote poems about each other describing aspects of their lives here in Britain. Their poems were inspired by Benjamin Zephania's collection of poems called "We are Britain" It tells the story of Britain in poetry through the eyes of children who come from different backgrounds and locations. Enjoy!

Students in Ghana produced written statements about what it meant to THEM to be Ghanain in 2009. Read and enjoy! What does it mean to be British? and What does it mean to be Ghanain? in 2009.
